When a YouTube video reaches one million views, it can guarantee significant earnings for its creator, sometimes reaching a six-figure amount.
During an interview with Insider, tech content creator Shelby Church discussed the amount of money she receives from YouTube. She stated that she earns between $3,400 and $30,000 for every million views.
Church earned $30,000 from a video where she explained the "Fulfillment By Amazon" service, which garnered 1.8 million views.
She mentioned that the earnings per thousand views are relatively high due to the nature of her content. Business, personal finance, and technology channels tend to earn more money compared to others.
She added, "YouTube users don't always make substantial amounts of money, and it depends on the type of videos they create."
Influencers can earn 55% of the video advertising revenue if they are part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). To qualify for this program, content creators must have at least a thousand subscribers and four thousand hours of watch time on their videos.
According to estimates, one would need at least a thousand subscribers on their YouTube channel and around 24 million annual views to earn $100,000 through YouTube.
According to specialized platforms, the average income for YouTube users is estimated at $7.60 per thousand views, with 45% going to Google.
Money can also be earned from Shorts, YouTube's short-form video feature. To be eligible for monetization, content creators must reach ten million views within 90 days and have at least a thousand subscribers.
YouTube collects advertising revenue from Shorts and pays an undisclosed amount to production companies and music licensing.
