The National Football League announced, Friday, that 22,000 fans will watch the "Super Bowl LV" match at Raymond James Stadium, of whom 7,500 health care workers who have been vaccinated against the Corona virus, will attend for free.
The association stated that this gesture is to "thank and honor" workers for their continued provision of exceptional services during the pandemic period.
While most of the invitees will come from Florida, the 32 teams that participate in the tournament have had a chance to award rewards to those from their home market.
"Health care workers continue to put their lives at risk to serve others, and we owe them our continued gratitude," said Roger Goodell, Association Commissioner.
He added, "We hope, in a small way, that this initiative will inspire our country and recognize these true American heroes. This is also an opportunity to promote the importance of vaccination and appropriate health practices, including wearing masks in public places."
Another 14,500 fans will attend the stadium, which can accommodate 70,000 fans, while following enhanced hygiene protocols, including mandatory wearing of a muzzle, social distancing, and other measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
