UEFA does not see the remainder of the Champions League to be held in Lisbon as threatened, although the Portuguese government has partially closed the city due to the Corona virus.
"There is currently no reason for us to have an alternative plan, but we are assessing the situation on a daily basis and we will adapt when the time comes if necessary," said an UEFA spokesman.
Because of the increasing number of people infected with the Coronavirus, parts of the city of Lisbon must return to a two-week closure starting from July 1, Portuguese President Antonio Costa said Thursday evening.
Residents of the 19 parts of the city can leave their homes only for shopping and work, and to attend medical appointments, and the city center was not affected by the infection.
The spokesman said: "The European Union is in constant contact with the Portuguese Federation, and it is also in constant contact with the Portuguese authorities."
He added, "We hope that everything will be good and that the rest of the tournament will be organized in Portugal."
The Champions League competitions will resume in early August with exciting matches in the round of 16, but with the start of the quarter-finals the tournament will move to Lisbon until the end.
The knockout system will be played in a single round knockout in two stadiums from 12 to 23 August.
